Frequently Asked Questions

The residential care team work throughout the day and night and they will make sure you are looked after. An appointment with the doctor will be made for you if necessary.

Everyone is expected to attend school or education from Monday to Friday unless they are ill.

This is discussed and agreed at reviews with your social worker.

To help you settle in, when all young people move in, we ask that all electronic devices – including mobile phones, are handed in and will be kept safe. This will encourage you to build positive relationships and get used to your new home and surroundings. During this time, we will support you in speaking to your approved family and friends in a safe way.
If there are any reasons which having a mobile phone would be bad for you, we will work with you to help you understand this and teach you to be safe.

Yes you can, all mail addressed to you is confidential, care team will only help you read or understand it if you ask. You can also make and receive phone calls in private when you wish to and you can write as many letters as you like- these have to be agreed with your social worker firstly.

All problems will be discussed with you; however we can use consequences which is a way of legally showing our disapproval at your behaviour. Consequences are normally agreed with you on your care plan and you have the right to comment or discuss them with your key worker and during house meetings

We don’t want anyone to feel they can’t talk about things in the night when they are feeling bad. Just tap on your team member’s bedroom door if you need to wake them up and speak to them.
If you have real difficulty sleeping, and need to talk night after night, your team will talk to you about ways of helping you settle.
You and your team all need a good night’s sleep to get up feeling bright and ready for school or work the next morning

Therefore before you arrive we look at whether we think QPC is right for you and if we think it is also best for the other children who live here.

Children can stay here up until their 18th birthday but this may not necessarily be the case for you. We will work with you, your family and Social Worker to establish the best plan for your future.

We take a great pride in QPC and being part of the community we work together to look after this your home while you are living here.

We’ll talk to you a lot about the way the home runs, and make sure your happy with decisions being made. We’ll often have community meetings to plan fun things, or discuss important information – this is to ensure your ideas, wishes and feelings are taken into account.

We will wake you up around 8am every day (you can have a lie in at weekends) and encourage you to get washed and dressed and ready for school. You may go to school at Lawrence House School, which is in the grounds of our homes. After school you have a choice of things to do including the gym, swimming, walks in the park, arts and crafts and pamper nights. You may have appointments too like the doctors or dentist.

There is lots of fun stuff to do at home; relax and watch T.V, play games or computer as well as encouraging you to explore the outdoors as much as possible with our regularly arranged activities. We will support your interests as far as is possible so if there’s anything you’d like to try doing let us know!

We like to sit together when possible to eat, especially our evening meals. This gives us a chance to catch up and chat about our day.

We also have  large back garden’s where you can play and have BBQs when it’s not raining.

But most importantly we just want to make amazing memories with you – things you can look back at and smile no matter how long you stay.
