Activities at QPC

At QPC, our activity team focuses on providing outdoor education experiences to support the development and well-being of the young people in our care. We believe in the strong connection between physical activity and mental health, using outdoor programs to build confidence, resilience, and self-awareness. These experiences help young people grow both emotionally and socially, enhancing their progress in education and daily life. All activities are led by qualified staff, ensuring safety and positive engagement throughout.

Outdoor Education Activities

At QPC, we believe in the power of outdoor learning to inspire, challenge, and transform the lives of our young people.

QPC has worked alongside professionals over the years to provide a dynamic, therapeutic, and engaging provision tailored to the needs of our students. His expertise ensures that every activity is not only enjoyable but also fosters resilience, confidence, and personal growth. From high-adrenaline adventures to reflective nature-based experiences, our bespoke programme is designed to meet each young person where they are, providing opportunities that far exceed those typically available to their peers.

Our emphasis on enrichment is embedded in everything we do, with every child completing a Duke of Edinburgh Award as part of their journey at QPC. Last year, we proudly achieved a 100% success rate in the Bronze Award. Beyond structured outdoor education, we offer enriching trips to our caravans, narrowboats, and the breath-taking mountainous landscapes of Wales, all of which form part of the QPC therapeutic offer.

Additionally, our farmland in Gwynedd provides young people with hands-on farming experiences, allowing them to develop practical skills beyond the classroom. Lambing season in the spring is always a highlight, giving our students the opportunity to nurture and care for new-born lambs—an unforgettable experience that builds responsibility, empathy, and confidence.

At QPC, outdoor education is more than just an activity—it’s an integral part of our holistic approach, helping young people develop resilience, independence, and a lasting connection with the world around them.

Farm

Hafod y Llyn Isaf – Family Farm

Farm

We run a small family farm in Snowdonia, North Wales and have had groups from QPC’s homes come and visit over the past few years. Each visit focuses on giving the children the chance to experience ‘being a farmer for the day’ with activities like sheep and lambing checks, land management, and chopping firewood. Beginning each Spring, a series of visits has focussed on the new lambs and calves, giving the children an opportunity to see how they grow and develop with each visit as time goes by.
They have helped with a range of things, from routine health checks to hand shearing sheep, and it has been our pleasure to see how they have naturally taken to caring for the animals. The group will often spot a misplaced lamb or if something isn’t quite right just as any good farmer would. During these visits, the level of care and attention that the staff provide has been brilliant, with support and encouragement given when needed. It has been a pleasure to work with QPC and the children in their care.
